Saddle Creek Recognized for Fulfillment Solution for Rack Room Shoes

We’re proud to announce that Saddle Creek has been selected as one of the 2017 Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100. The awards program showcases the year’s “100 Great Supply Chain Projects” – successful and transformational projects that deliver value across a range of supply chain functions.

This year’s projects were selected by management professors and key executive practicum advisers from North Carolina State University’s supply chain management program. Saddle Creek was recognized for developing a custom omnichannel fulfillment solution to support a major footwear retailer’s expansion of online sales channels.

Custom Omnichannel Fulfillment Supports Expansion of Online Sales Channels

Selling more than 17 million pairs of shoes annually in brick-and-mortar stores and online, Rack Room Shoes recently decided to focus on growing online channels. With a strategic plan to make advancements in the years ahead, they sought the expertise of a third-party fulfillment partner who could provide a custom omnichannel solution to support their future sales model. They selected Saddle Creek for our ability to ensure seamless fulfillment across all sales channels and help advance them to the next level.

In just six weeks, we implemented a highly configurable, cost-effective warehouse management solution. Full data integration with Rack Room’s multiple business units allows the continuous flow of data to and from their host system to our WMS.

A full RF solution, which includes mobile wearable RF technology, gives users hands-free capability to handle the single-shoe units that are being processed to the stores and directly to the end customer through Rack Room’s ecommerce portal.

We now fulfill 80 percent of Rack Room’s total orders, supporting all of their stores nationwide in either a primary or secondary capacity. In addition to store replenishment, we also manage the entire ecommerce channel and new store-set programs and all specialty store-support functions such as returns and seasonal resets for the entire nationwide footprint.

Our solution has resulted in significant gains in customer service and order cycle times. Rack Room views Saddle Creek as an extension of its supply chain team and values our involvement in strategic planning and continuous improvement.
