Accompanied by the deep rumble of 675 motorcycles and dozens of law enforcement vehicles, a Saddle Creek truck traveled 60 miles from Lakeland, Fla., to the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla., to pay tribute to fallen veterans on Saturday. They delivered memorial wreaths as part of a nationwide remembrance organized by Wreaths Across America.  Along the route, hundreds of people waved flags and cheered the procession.

At the cemetery, Saddle Creek associates joined volunteers, veterans and active-duty military in laying the wreaths on gravesites as part of the annual remembrance ceremony.  In total, more than 21,000 live wreaths were placed at the Bushnell cemetery. This year’s ceremony was attended by more than 12,000 people. A similar ceremony was held at the Florida National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fla.

Saddle Creek has participated in the organization’s annual remembrance ceremonies in Lakeland since 2006 with enthusiastic support from the company’s associates. Over the past ten years, Saddle Creek’s involvement has grown dramatically, and associates from many departments across the company volunteer for the event.

Wreaths Across America’s mission is to remember fallen U.S. veterans, honor those who serve, and teach children the value of freedom. Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the organization coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as over 1,100 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad.
