In 1966, a chance conversation about the need for local warehouse space convinced David Lyons and a friend to partner in building a 12,000-square-foot warehouse facility in Lakeland, Fla. Today, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of that company, Saddle Creek Logistics Services – one of the largest family-owned 3PLs in North America.
Since May 4, 1966, we have made it our mission to provide exceptional logistics solutions and services for our customers – to do Whatever It Takes! The company’s 50 years of revenue growth is testament to this commitment to service excellence.
To meet the needs of our customers, we have expanded into new markets, introduced new capabilities, acquired related companies, and more. Today, Saddle Creek manages over 17.1 million square feet of space and 41 locations around the country with the help of more than 2700 associates. Our integrated logistics services include warehousing, omnichannel fulfillment, transportation, and packaging.
In 2016, under the direction of our new company chairman Scott Thornton, we have added strategically located facilities in Lakeland, Fort Worth, and Chicago – totaling more than two-million square feet of space.
Moving forward, we also plan to tap our logistics services to help customers adapt to today’s omnichannel marketplace. Network optimization, system innovation, and automated fulfillment are just a few of the capabilities we are leveraging to help retailers, manufacturers, and ecommerce companies get products where they need to be quickly, cost-effectively, and seamlessly.
As we celebrate our golden milestone today, we look back with pride and forward with great anticipation. This is an exciting time at Saddle Creek. We plan to keep doing Whatever It Takes! for our customers. After 50 years of growth, we’re just getting started!
