Stuart Kerr

Just four years ago, Stuart Kerr joined Saddle Creek Logistics Services as a recent college graduate with no industry experience. He already has been promoted twice and now serves as Operations Manager for the company in Lakeland, Fla.

In 2016, Stuart graduated from the University of South Florida, earning a degree in Marketing with a Supply Chain Management concentration. Ready to embrace a new challenge, he determined that Saddle Creek offered the opportunities he needed to start his career in logistics.

“Saddle Creek was my first career move upon graduation. I had heard the company’s guest speakers on campus and participated in corporate tours, so I had a sense of the organizational culture,” Stuart remembers. “At the time, I also had the opportunity to work for one the biggest names in the industry, but I chose Saddle Creek because they showed me that they are family oriented and care about the individual.”

Joining the company without any industry experience was a big step for Stuart. He seized the opportunity to work with his team and leadership and took advantage of internal training and certifications, including Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. His efforts were noticed and resulted in two promotions in quick succession.

“My promotions demonstrate the growth opportunity at Saddle Creek,” Stuart points out. “And the company offers additional training to encourage continuous self-improvement and ensure that you’re well rounded as a staff member.”

In his current role, Stuart spends his time managing a cross-dock facility and a transportation fleet for one of the leading players in the U.S. baking industry.

“My job allows me to apply everything I read in a college textbook. I love the day-to-day challenges,” he explains. “During the pandemic, my team and I have been working hard to fit all the puzzle pieces together and ensure that supermarkets are supplied with bread, buns, rolls and muffins.”
