"When I became an office supervisor in 2018, they invited me to participate in the Saddle Creek Academy program. It gave me a chance to meet other supervisors and managers who have been great resources for me. Saddle Creek does a great job of investing in its associates."Sequoya Davis
Sequoya Davis joined Saddle Creek Logistics Services as a temporary worker, based on a recommendation from her brother, while she was still in college. A few months later, she was offered a permanent position that has resulted in numerous growth opportunities. Today, Sequoya is an Office Supervisor in Atlanta, Ga.
“My brother told me Saddle Creek has a great culture, values their associates, and recognizes a good attitude and hard work. He suggested that I join the company to help pay my expenses while I was studying accounting” she remembers. “I started in October 2010, and, in just five months, I had a full-time offer. Since then, I have been able to learn new skills and grow in the company. Now, I understand several different aspects of warehousing.”
After being hired permanently, Sequoya was promoted to lead, then moved to customer service. From there, she once again showed her willingness to go above and beyond her role and took advantage of the opportunities she had to learn new skills.
“I showed I was capable, and Saddle Creek promoted me. When I became an office supervisor in 2018, they invited me to participate in the Saddle Creek Academy program. It gave me a chance to meet other supervisors and managers who have been great resources for me. Saddle Creek does a great job of investing in its associates,” Sequoya says.
The Saddle Creek Academy program is a training course that focuses on reinforcing the company’s culture and operational best practices. The program is designed to ensure that supervisors have all the tools they need to lead their teams effectively and deliver an optimal experience for clients.
Sequoya now supervises eight accounts. She is a problem-solver and spends her day helping other associates deliver excellent service. Her responsibilities include compiling reports, accommodating the truck drivers’ demands and constantly communicating with the warehouse team. She likes to say she is the glue between the warehouse and Saddle Creek’s clients.
When asked what she enjoys most about her job, Sequoya says, “It feels like working with family. Saddle Creek is different from other companies where I have worked because we truly operate based on values here. And my personal values are aligned with the company’s values. Every day, I work to the best of my ability and stay focused on the guiding principles of our business: excellence, performance, support, integrity and respect.”
