"We have fun working together, and we support each other. I consider many associates as part of my extended family, I’m blessed to be able to come to work and leave with a smile on my face.”Sean Morehouse
Sean Morehouse was looking for a fresh start at a stable company where he could grow his career when he heard about Saddle Creek Logistics Services. Since joining the company in 2008, he has held different roles that have allowed him to expand his responsibilities.
“I was laid off for the first time in my life during the 2008 recession. It was hard to find a company that was hiring at that time. Since Saddle Creek provides essential supply chain services, it was one of the few companies bringing on new associates,” Sean remembers.
Sean joined Saddle Creek as a forklift operator in Lakeland, Fla. Since then, he has had the opportunity to learn new skills, work on different accounts and shifts, and grow his career. Today, he is a Production Supervisor for one of Saddle Creek’s beverage clients, responsible for managing two automated production lines and more than 40 associates.
“The beauty of automated production lines is that we don’t have to wait for inbound or outbound loads, and the machines keep running to optimize productivity even when we take a break. Our goal is to produce about 9,000 cases of kids’ beverages per day, but we can make up to 10,000 cases to meet demand,” he explains.
Sean starts his day at 4:45 a.m. He reviews work orders, checks out the docks and makes sure everything is ready for the 6:00 a.m. shift. After the team arrives, he focuses on helping them to achieve their productivity goals while maintaining a safe work environment.
“I spend more time at Saddle Creek than anywhere else. I love our organizational culture – and the people who bring this culture to life. We have fun working together, and we support each other. I consider many associates as part of my extended family,” he says. “I’m blessed to be able to come to work and leave with a smile on my face.”
Sean has witnessed Saddle Creek’s growth and technology expansion over the years.
“When I started working on this account, we just had one production line and three robots. Now we have two lines and five robots. We’ve almost doubled our capacity. I hope Saddle Creek keeps growing and that more hardworking and dedicated people can join our team,” Sean says.
