Distribution Director

“When you take good care of the people, they take good care of the company. You see that reflected in our production and safety results. We have been overcoming challenges and improving our key performance indicators. I’m very proud of our team and what we have achieved here in Ontario.”
Rey Guerrero

Rey Guerrero’s career in the logistics industry goes back a long way. After moving from the Philippines to California in the 1990’s, Rey was looking for an opportunity to make a living, learn a new profession, and build a career. He started out as a temporary forklift operator at a small, family-owned company which Saddle Creek Logistics Services later acquired.

“I entered the 3PL world in 1996 and chose this industry for my career path. From forklift operator to director, I have climbed every step of this ladder with commitment, discipline and dedication,” Rey remembers.

Rey watched the company grow and welcomed new changes.

“When Saddle Creek bought the company in 2009, I decided to stay on board. I realized that I would be part of a family-owned, professionally managed company with a great reputation and opportunities for growth,” he explains. “I was privileged to meet Mr. Lyons, Saddle Creek’s founder. He made me feel welcome and excited about what Saddle Creek stands for.”

Over the years, Rey embraced new opportunities at Saddle Creek. He traveled to different states to support new account startups, learned to apply Lean Six Sigma principles to the operations, and expanded his professional skills. Today, as the Distribution Director of the company’s 433,000-square-foot campus in Ontario, Calif., Rey splits his time between two facilities.

“My job is never boring. I start my day at one location, work there for half a day and then go to the other facility at noon. I meet the managers, check our performance, and see how I can help them solve day-to-day issues and more complex supply chain problems.”

Rey is a go-getter and likes to keep himself busy outside of work, playing basketball, riding his bike, or spending time with his family. He’s always thinking about how he can go the extra mile.

“There was a time when I was a supervisor doing a manager’s job. I never hesitated to go above and beyond my job description. I knew that was an investment I needed to make in order to learn and grow. As our founder used to say, you’ve got to do whatever it takes,” he explains.

Rey likes to share stories of Saddle Creek’s unique culture and how associates make a difference for each other.

“When you take good care of the people, they take good care of the company. You see that reflected in our production and safety results. We have been overcoming challenges and improving our key performance indicators. I’m very proud of our team and what we have achieved here in Ontario,” Rey says.
