Michael Carrigan

In 2007, Michael Carrigan was a young professional looking for a good company where he could start his career when a friend recommended that he see what Saddle Creek Logistics Services had to offer.

“I wanted an environment that provided opportunities for growth and advancement,” Michael remembers. “Saddle Creek has delivered. They’ve consistently rewarded me for showing my strengths. I’ve had five different roles during my career here so far. Every time I was ready for the next step, the next step was there.”

Today, Michael serves as Senior Distribution Manager in Charlotte, N.C.

“I am responsible for a very complex account, and we must execute the operation flawlessly,” he says. “For five months out of the year, our team of 200 associates puts together 6 million beauty kits. Each years’ operation is entirely different, so it’s like a new start-up every year.”

Michael spends much of his time on the floor working with his team, discussing the challenges they may have, and how they will overcome them. He also works with six smaller clients and helps the Solutions team on pricing and modeling operations for new clients.

Michael enjoys learning and growing with Saddle Creek as the company evolves.  He has developed new skills as his responsibilities have increased.

“I’ve learned everything I know at Saddle Creek. When I started, I had no experience at all. Now, I’ve become an expert in packaging, assembly and omnichannel fulfillment. Everyone was willing to help me learn,” Michael explains. “I took a warehouse course at the International Logistics Association, sponsored by Saddle Creek, but most of what I have learned has come from working alongside experienced people.”

Michael believes that much of Saddle Creek’s success is due to the company’s strong culture, its associates and its leaders.

“We are a fast-growing business, but we have been able to maintain the camaraderie and other positive aspects of a small company. Everyone gets along well and takes the job seriously. Leadership is always supportive, and they give you the chance to grow and the freedom to figure things out. I plan to retire from Saddle Creek – many years from now,” Michael says.
