Marina Saldana joined Saddle Creek Logistics Services as a temporary worker in 2013, based on a friend’s recommendation. Three months later, she was offered a permanent position that has resulted in numerous growth opportunities. Today, Marina is a Customer Service Coordinator in Fort Worth, Texas.
“I was looking for a good job close to home and, after hearing about Saddle Creek, I decided to give it a try,” she remembers. “Even though I had never worked at a warehouse before and I did not speak English well at that time, Saddle Creek gave me an opportunity. I learned all I needed here - picking, packing, labeling, receiving inbounds, controlling inventory, operating a forklift and a cherry picker, taking care of accounts… you name it.”
Marina took advantage of opportunities to learn new skills and grow at the company. Now, she understands many different aspects of warehousing. She attributes much of her success to the leaders and the associates who trained and prepared her for the next step.
“I try to be the best I can be every day. One of my biggest challenges was to learn about IT systems and improve my computer and professional writing skills. Colleagues around me helped me with everything I needed to succeed,” Marina explains.
She now spends her day answering clients’ emails, checking and allocating orders, providing proper documentation to drivers and helping new associates.
“I believe everyone can learn new skills if they wish to do so. Sometimes, they only need an opportunity. I try to help new associates by sharing all I know,” she says.
Marina enjoys her current role and looks forward to expanding her knowledge and growing with Saddle Creek.
“I love my job. Seven years ago, I couldn’t imagine myself growing and performing so well at work. I’m proud of myself and grateful for the people who supported me along my journey. Saddle Creek associates have become my second family,” Marina explains.
