When Katherine Amato joined Saddle Creek Logistics Services, she jumped in with both feet. In just a few months, she was asking for more responsibility, learning new skills and making significant contributions to the company. Her desire to learn and grow earned her a promotion.
Katherine graduated from Virginia Tech University in 2011, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. She started her career working in the supply chain department at a large corporation, then transitioned to healthcare management a few years later. In 2018, Katherine was looking to return to the supply chain field with a company that aligned with her values when she came across Saddle Creek.
“When I was researching companies online, I saw that Saddle Creek empowers female leaders and has opportunities for women to grow professionally,” she remembers. “Saddle Creek’s videos and case studies sparked my interest. I thought the company could be great for my career development. I was right!”
Katherine joined Saddle Creek in Harrisburg, N.C., as a supervisor and quickly transitioned into client services because of her desire to help clients and ability to translate their needs into actionable requests for the operations teams. Her first challenge was to ensure that the startup process was running smoothly for a new account.
“I had never worked for a 3PL before – where you service your client rather than your own products. I had the opportunity to learn a new role and become passionate about it. We take care of our clients’ product as if it were ours,” Katherine explains.
Today, as a Client Services Manager, Katherine’s primary responsibility is to make sure there are no gaps between clients’ needs and Saddle Creek’s operations. She also works with new projects and startups and supports managers and incoming accounts.
“I act as an intermediary between our clients and our operations. Our clients know they can bring me their concerns and I’ll take care of them,” Katherine says. “I make sure the voice of the client is heard, and we deliver the best service possible. I also represent Saddle Creek, so it’s important to give the client a clear understanding of which requests are possible and the operational impact of those requests.”
Katherine says her favorite part of working at Saddle Creek is the people. “I love my team. I have also worked with other teams in the company and had positive experiences with all of them. The associates here take care of each other,” she explains. “Besides that, I’m able to learn, try new solutions, think outside of the box, carve my path and grow professionally. I love the way leaders support new ideas. I feel I make an impact and contribute to the business.”
