Dana Skeans

Dana Skeans joined Saddle Creek Logistics Services as a temporary worker in 1997. A few months later, she was offered a permanent position that has resulted in numerous growth opportunities. Today, Dana is a Distribution Supervisor in Lakeland, Fla.

“I used to work at another warehouse, but I wanted a better work environment and more opportunities for growth. A friend told me Saddle Creek has a great culture, values its associates, and recognizes a good attitude and hard work,” she remembers. “I started in January 1998 as a forklift operator, unloading railcars. Since then, I have been able to learn new skills and grow in the company. Now, I understand several different aspects of warehousing.”

A couple years after Dana was hired permanently, she was promoted to customer service representative and worked on different accounts. Once again, she went above and beyond her responsibilities role and, in 2008, earned a promotion to supervisor.

“I have learned many things at Saddle Creek, but the most important one is to deal well with people and constantly communicate with our clients and my team,” Dana says.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Dana made it a priority to keep her team on the job. When a long-time food-and-beverage client instructed Saddle Creek to stop production due to social distancing concerns, Dana quickly developed a plan that would allow her team to continue to produce variety packs safely.

“It was slower than normal production, but it worked.  We continued to build variety-packs for more than a week after our client stopped production at all other facilities,” Dana explains.

Dana also found work for six temporary associates who would have been displaced when the client installed an automatic barcode label applicator.

“That’s why my family loves Saddle Creek,” Dana explains, noting that both her husband and daughter work for the company as well. “We are a family-oriented company, and we take good care of each other – even during difficult times.”
