Bryan Robinson was working at a warehouse down the street when construction began on Saddle Creek Logistics Services’ new facility in Edwardsville, Ill. He was looking for a new environment with opportunities to grow.

When researching the company online, he saw that Saddle Creek had a network of facilities across the country and was adding new accounts. Excited by the prospect of working for a growing business, he joined the company in June 2015.

Saddle Creek provided training for Bryan to become a Clamp Operator. After working on the warehouse floor for two years, he earned a lead position. He was promoted to Distribution Supervisor just a year later.

“I worked hard to earn this position, and I was proud to be promoted,” Bryan says. “I appreciate the opportunity and the confidence the leadership team showed in me. It has been a great opportunity overall.”

Bryan now oversees the day-to-day distribution operations for the dedicated facility, managing inbound and outbound activities and supervising two team leads.

The role requires strong strategic planning and decision-making skills as well as the ability to trust your instincts, Bryan says. He credits Saddle Creek with helping him improve on these skills to ensure his success.

Shortly after he was promoted, Bryan was invited to participate in the Saddle Creek Academy. Held at the company headquarters in Lakeland, Fla., the week-long training program helps front-line supervisors build their leadership skills and strengthen their understanding of operational practices and continuous improvement methodologies.

“It was absolutely phenomenal,” Bryan raves. “It was a great opportunity to network and learn about the business. We met the CEO and discussed Saddle Creek’s core values. It really helped us to understand the big picture.”
