Two leading industry publications recognized Saddle Creek as leader in sustainability this week. The company has been named a Green Supply Chain Partner by Inbound Logistics magazine and a 2014 Top Green Provider by Food Logistics magazine.
The Inbound Logistics' 2014 Green Supply Chain Partners are companies that are leading the way in sustainability and green logistics initiatives. The editorial team's critera include measurable green results, sustainability innovation, continuous improvement, and industry recognition.
Food Logistics' Top Green Providers list focuses on sustainability in the global food supply chain, recognizing companies who are exceeding industry standards in their sector. This year's list features companies that demonstrate leadership in sustainability, and, as a result, have had a positive impact on their customers.
The awards recognize Saddle Creek's investment in a compressed-natural-gas (CNG) fleet that drematically decreases emissions for food and beverage companies throughout the Southeast, giving area shippers a more environmentally friendly transportation solution. Already, the fleet has traveled more than 20 million miles on CNG, saving approximately a pound of carbon per mile.
"Investing in CNG has enabled us to support our customers' corporate sustainability programs while reducing our own environmental impact," said Cliff Otto, Saddle Creek CEO. "We're proud to be recognized for our leadership in this area. It is exciting to see that our fleet is helping to raise awareness for this sustainable solution."
Saddle Creek will be featured in the June 2014 issues of Food Logistics and Inbound Logistics.
